@soulst0p: When you were in Hong Kong I was glad you blogged, because it enabled me to catch up on your life despite your being on the other side of the globe (time zone wise and your "being really busy" -wise). :) True that you formulate your thoughts to articulate them to the point where they're digestible for public consumption. Much easier to keep track of them that way.

@Robbie: That would be consistent with the fact that you're a designer, no? :) A lot of the stuff outflows *from* you. Interestingly enough, blogging has become a part of my weekly process in getting stuff off my chest in a way to actually write about it - thereby fleshing it out - instead of just forgetting about it before I've really been able to go into depth about it.

@Lexybeast: You make good points, especially about the "exhibitionist" properties. So I guess that just makes me flamboyant, huh? j/k. It's like open mic night all up in here. ;)

I can't see blogs (at least those open to the public) as a personal journal. Though they've got some superficial similarities, there's something that's just too exhibitionist about the whole blogging process that demands audience. Despite the audience's potential anonymity, you know they're there. Maybe this is the beatnik poetry reading equivalent of our time- some of us just feel a need to be heard and published, not necessarily out of any narcissism, but rather that simply think we've just created something others will enjoy, and so should share it rather than horde it.

I am in the same boat as you... I was (and still kind of am) terrible at reading comprehension but did really well on any project that was written. I never could figure out why, but I suspect I'm just too lazy to really digest things while reading. I think partly it's how I grew up -- the folks only speaking to me in broken English, and nobody in my family was interested in reading. It's probably more personality driven though.

And for me, I always blogged to keep track of my life and the good memories that I know I would eventually forget... those finer details that become a clear picture of a specific point in your life. It's also a good way to mark progress made since any bad period. But I've fallen off lately, and have found myself in an abyss of sorts, my mind is totally clogged right now and I feel like a zombie. I think maybe I should start back up again, perhaps it has always helped to keep my head clear.

Sometimes I wish I still blogged, because keeping track of your thoughts is a very useful process. Alas, I'm a very slow writer, and it takes me a long time to make each post. The cool thing about blogs is that it's essentially for both you and others to view. I think it's form of "thoughts" that's the easiest to look back on, because they're so ready to share. During blogging, you spend a decent amount of time in analysis anyway, so that it takes some of the guesswork out of trying to decode you own words in the future.
