And ultimately, if we always lower our expectations and reach for the nearest thing, we may never give God a chance to surprise us (and surpass our expectations). Or even allow Him to gradually re-define our expectations into something more meaningful and lasting. In the past few years, even in the past few months, I've done a fair amount of travelling and seen a lot of very interesting (or beautiful, if you will) things. Oftentimes, I feel like it's not complete if I'm not sharing it with someone (a la Cuba Gooding Jr.'s character in "Jerry Maguire"). But then I remind myself that this moment of beauty is here right now, and I'm here right now, so better to just experience it NOW.
