I don’t need much of a reason to drop in at Short Order at The Original Farmer’s Market. The cocktails are always tasty and boozy, Christian Page’s food is simply delicious whether you love burgers or not and Short Cake’s desserts and the Single Origin coffee are just icing on the cake. What’s more, the open air atmosphere is always a welcome vibe for a casual day or night out. The best part is that it doesn’t close between lunch and dinner, so if you’re game for a bite or drink during odd hours of the day, you can count on Short Order to be there.
But, of course, there’s now a reason to go specifically on Wednesdays thanks to Dante of the famous Dante’s Fried Chicken pop-up. While he works in the kitchen during normal business hours, on Wednesday, he lends his talents to a rotating line-up of fried chicken specials.
I got a taste of the Fried Chicken Sandwich, which was on tap last week. I was given the choice of “bacon, avocado or both” as toppings, and I fell for the notion that there is never too much of a good thing…except for the composition of the actual sandwich, of course, which basically collapsed after a handful of bites. Of course, that was purely my fault – but this is where my knife and fork came handy.
I’d order it again.
I have no idea what special Dante and Short Order will be offering tomorrow, but since the magic ingredient is his crunchy, awesomely battered fried chicken, that’s basically all you need to know.
