Well, N Movember is here. Growing a moustache? Watching other people grow moustaches?

You might as well do it for a cause, a cocktail (or two, or…) and live tunes – and you can do that tonight at The Spare Room inside The Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. Your tongue will feast on a special Mo-cocktail, your ears on a performance by Los Angeles girl band Warpaint and a DJ set by OK Go!‘s Tim Nordwind. Actress and Mo-sista Malin Akerman is set to host. Proceeds from sales of the Mo-cocktail and pictures from the state-of-the-art, retro photo booth will go towards Movember and prostate cancer research.

You might as well bowl a few strikes…and spares…while you’re at it (lanes and designer bowling shoe rentals available at $100 per hour, up to 6 people) – just be sure to reserve your hour or two.

I’ll see you at The Spare Room with your handlebars!

Saban Free Clinic’s Extravaganza For The Senses: July 17, 2010

Food, as you already know, I can get behind. A variety of food in one place – even better. But there’s no better reason to celebrate the aforementioned than to benefit a great cause. In the case of Extravaganza For The Senses, that great cause is the Saban Free Clinic.

All the proceeds from ticket sales to the event benefits the Saban Free Clinic (formerly Los Angeles Free Clinic), which provides free quality health care, dental and social services to the most vulnerable members in the Los Angeles community. Your attendance and support will directly benefit the community around us, so the Clinic will be able to continue to provide services to thousands of men, women and children in need. This year, that total will reach 90,000.

Some of the names at the event that you will need to know include Jar, Angelini Osteria, Milk, Lawry’s, The Palm, Valerie Confections, and Susan Feniger’s STREET. As for wine, over 100 wineries will be represented. Susanne Tracht from Jar and Top Chef Masters will be performing a cooking demonstration. You’ll also be able to bid on a number of prizes in the silent auction. Music will be spun by DJ Scott Silva and you’ll get to participate in fortune readings by mystics and hop in the photo booth with your friends. If the red carpet is your speed, VIP will be able to experience Reservoir and Public in addition to all the other restaurant participants for one extra hour, and have access to complimentary massages from El Leon and Bliss Spa .

Also, ticket prices go up on July 1st from $80 and $200 to $100 and $225 – so it’s a good reason to secure your tickets now! I’ll see you there.
